FRANKLIN, TENN (September 16, 2009) –Middle Tennessee wine lovers and gourmets will literally have their hands full at the fifth annual Franklin Wine Festival, Oct. 2, 2009, at The Factory in Franklin, Tenn. The event benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee and is presented by Cool Springs Wines & Spirits with support from Nissan North America.
At the Franklin Wine Festival, aficionados will enjoy over 300 selected wines from around the world, along with culinary delights from more than 30 of Middle Tennessee’s finest chefs such as Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, Sperry’s, Chef’s Market and a host of others. Both silent and live auctions will take place, and entertainment will be provided by two bands – Art 4 Sale and The Storm Kings – on two separate stages. A fun photo booth will provide a souvenir of the evening, and there will be other special surprises. Advance views of many auction items are available on the event website.
Tickets to the Franklin Wine Festival are an affordable $75, with all proceeds going to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program helping vulnerable children beat the odds.
The Franklin Wine Festival is one of the most important fundraisers of the year for Big Brothers Big Sisters, having generated over $278,000 in the past four years to support mentoring services for Middle Tennessee’s at-risk youth.
The phenomenal growth and popularity of this annual fundraising fete is underscored by the fact that in 2008, its fourth year, the festival raised $112,000, up from $8,000 in the first year. All proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, and 100 percent of the funds raised stay in the community, supporting the mission and programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee.
Funding raised by the Franklin Wine Festival and other events is used to recruit volunteers, conduct background checks on volunteers to ensure child safety, and provide ongoing support for children, families and volunteers to build and sustain long-lasting relationships. Big Brothers Big Sisters is proven to improve children’s odds for succeeding in school, behaving nonviolently, and avoiding drugs and alcohol.
