2009 FRANKLIN WINE FESTIVAL
RAISES A SIX FIGURE GLASS FOR
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS

$110,000 Raised for Children in Middle Tennessee

-

FRANKLIN, TENN (November 30, 2009) –Attendees of the Franklin Wine Festival presented by Cool Springs Wines and Spirits and supported by Nissan generated a six-figure contribution to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee. The fifth annual tasting raised $110,000 and some 1,250 fans of wine and food attended the event held at The Factory at Franklin. This funding will provide mentoring services for 110 Middle Tennessee children, and is an integral part of Big Brothers Big Sisters overall fund-raising efforts.

“We so appreciate the continued support of our many sponsors and the entire community allowing us to expand this event and serve more children,” said event chairperson Sandy Draper. “We are so pleased with the results and amazed as each year just continues to become more and more exceptional.”

At the Franklin Wine Festival, aficionados enjoyed over 300 selected wines from around the world along with culinary delights from more than 30 of Middle Tennessee’s finest chefs. Both silent and live auctions took place along with live entertainment on two separate stages.

“The Franklin Wine Festival has become a signature event for Big Brothers Big Sisters in Williamson County,” commented Lowell Perry, Jr. – CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee. “This is an incredible evening out that also serves as an investment in our community’s future – enabling vulnerable children throughout Middle Tennessee to beat the odds and succeed in school, avoid drugs and violence, and realize new and brighter futures for themselves and their communities.”

The Franklin Wine Festival has generated over $388,000 in the past five years to support mentoring services for Middle Tennessee children, and 100 percent of the funds raised stay in the Middle Tennessee community supporting the mission and programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Big Brothers Big Sisters helps vulnerable children beat the odds and break negative cycles. Funding is used to conduct background checks on volunteers to ensure child safety, and provide ongoing support for children, families and volunteers to build and sustain long-lasting relationships.
