LOCAL MEN'S HIGH HEEL RACE TO BENEFIT BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS

NASHVILLE, TN (OCTOBER 5, 2011) –On Tuesday, October, 11,  men in the Middle Tennessee area will strap on their snappiest high heels and compete in a local race competition to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee. The race will take place at 6pm at Walk of Fame Park located between the Hilton Hotel and the Country Music Hall of Fame in Downtown Nashville.

The 2011 Men’s High Heel Race competition began with Big Brothers Big Sisters ambassador and volunteer mentor Olivia Billingsley, who acknowledged the growing need for greater community involvement on behalf of the 2,800+ children being served by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee each year and took action. “Most members of the community do not realize the impact that they can have in children’s lives just by showing up for events like this,” says Billingsley. “I created this opportunity as a way for people in Nashville to come together, have fun and support a cause that benefits children across Middle Tennessee.”

Billingsley’s work and contribution to the 2011 Men’s High Heel Race competition will earn her a spot in the King and Queen of the Vines competition at the 2011 Franklin Wine Festival at the Factory in Franklin taking place later on October 21. The annual Franklin Wine Festival is a food and wine tasting fundraiser that is hosted every year to raise revenue for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, and is made possible by Cool Springs Wines & Spirits and supported by Nissan. In spirit with the mission of the Festival, the King and Queen of the Vines competition honors one man and one woman whose exemplary community service and fund-raising efforts on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee have distinguished them among all Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee volunteers.

On the evening of the 2011 Men’s High Heel Race competition, all race participants will enjoy a free beer at Bootleggers on Broadway and will have a chance to participate in the Best Legs Competition that will take place prior to the race. Race participants and guests will also have a chance to meet and converse with 104.5 The Zone’s Clay Travis, who will be joining other locals as a competitor in the race.

Registration for the event is $25 dollars and will take place through the evening of Tuesday, October, 11. For registration details, visit www.nashvillesports.com/site/content/menshighheelrace or contact Olivia Billingsley at menshighheelrace@gmail.com.
